I have the opportunity to obtain an '84 200SX Turbo for cheap , following problems, doesn't start(needs a new starter) rust-it's been sitting for 3 yrs. Any opinions on whether or not I should pick it up? Anyone need parts? Anyone driven one recently enough to give me a driving impression compared to a 240HB? That's all, have a nice day.

First define cheap. If you need a daily driver, be prepared to spend a good deal of coin sorting everything out. If it's going to be a racer or 2nd car I'd say grab it. It's not a bad car to learn the ropes of turbo tuning. As to driving impression......no torque, less HP. However it does have 4.11 in the diff and a dry weight ~2500(well it does if you take off some unnessary parts). Also the first two gears in the box are way high numerically, so it feels way faster than the power output would suggest. The suspension is nice...fully independent, with a touch of understeer that you flip into tail out insanity in 1st, 2nd and if you keep the revs up 3rd. I raced a 240 auto stock for stock and spanked him through 2nd. After that I was toast.

Geez thats a long post......I love coffee.

It's a pretty good project car. One problem though, it doesn't have much aftermarket parts, however some suspension parts from a 280sx and 300zx works. check out Club S12
