Is it at all possible to swap a transmission from a 87 200sx into an 89 240sx

If you had an adapter plate to mate the trans up to the KA. However, I don't see the point in doing that. The gear ratios between the V6 equipped 200 and the 240 are at least similar enough.

the 87 200sx was a inline 4 cylinder, i'm assuming if i change the bell housing it'd just plug and play or if i'm lucky enough it will just be a plug n play bolt in

oh and the reason for the swap is i just bought a 240sx last week and i just found out my clutch went and possibly the trans

yep, just switch bell housing, but KA trans are so cheap tho

All I could find for gear ratio information in my quick google search was the V6 variant.

Pesonally, I would just slap a used KA trans back into it.

I would but since my my other car was just totaled and this was my only one left i figured it'd be a pretty quick fix till i find a 240sx m/t. Right now though it is sitting at a garage and as of now they know the clutch n some components are bad. the estimate on that is $475 for parts and labor. if my transmission is bad i'll just bring it back home and swap my trannys myself.

What would happen if when i swap the transmission and install the new clutch plate if i were to leave the original flywheel in? Would you advise changing it at the same time too
