200sx ser with a dead spot

i have a 95 200sx ser with 150k miles on it. and around 4000-4400 rpms the car has a dead spot, it takes forever to get to red line after 4000 ish rpm's . i have a few ideas of what it might be but im tryin to see what you all might say?

start with an airflow meter check. Then check your fuel pressure see if it is dropping off. Also look to see if your swirl control valve is opening when you throttle it, if it doesnt you will have a restriction of airflow into the cyl's.

start with the MAF. Most likely it's failing and running too rich up top.
