Ok, i just bought a new car, 97 200ser. I know i will be turboing this car in the near future. Which option would be the easier, econimical, reliable way of doing it? Should i buy a kit for the stock engine and work off there? Or buy a det to drop in and work from there? Ive had two 240's with SR's before so im no stranger to nissans or SR motors, but this is my first front wheeler so inputs would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the engine is healthy, turboing what you've got would be probably be the least expensive way of adding big power. If you decide to go that route you can either buy a kit or use Japanese OEM parts. If you decide on the latter, shoot me an email. I have almost everything you'd need sitting in my garage waiting for a buyer.

another option i have is, i have a full RWD sr20det motor i can pull parts from to build a piece together setup. what parts from the rwd will work on my stock motor? my hks cams? this would get me started but the stock t25 wouldnt get me to my goal of 270-300hp (can you get this high on stock rods/pistons?), and i would rather keep the rwd det together because i would like to sell it complete, and im not sure if i want to do another piece together setup like my first 240. a gti-r motor wouldnt be too hard either it seems into my car.

Your RWD parts will not work.

A T25 will get you to about 250whp. The stock internals will last up to about 15lbs of boost on a T28. That'd be good for around the same power, maybe a little more.

I have a Nissan T25, Nissan manifold, 275whp-capable IC w/piping and Nissan BOV, SAFCII, and some injectors that'd take about 12lbs. Pretty much a good starter setup. Remember that a FWD car will not handle big power as well, so if you want to go higher than 15lbs or so you may have traction issues.

Let me know if you want anything of mine via email.
