This will be a long story :)

I live in Europe (Serbia), on the car trades web page theres a few S13 all with ca18det. But all cars are over 200.000KM so bottom end is probably shoot because most of the owners do not care about their cars dont change oil dont take them to service and etc. So I thought best solution is to buy one with broken engine. I dont want to rebuild ca18 as I cant find parts locally. I can source 2jz and maybe a rb25 engine, but in EU if you want engine capacity over 2.0l registration for a year is going to cost around 1300-1500usd

So... I search all over internet and learnt quite a bit about s13. Found out that SR20 is common swap and the engine is solid. I remebered that Primera had a 2.0l petrol as my friend has one. I googled and its SR20DE I thought BINGO but its FWD :bs: I saw one guy is trying to use RWD gearbox on FWD SR but its too much work for me :( that was about a month ago. I was thinking well no s13 for me...

Yesterday I woke up and the s13 bug kicked in again so I searched and found this it`s Nissan Serena C23 and in Europe it came with SR20DE and its a RWD :chuckle:

And finally that gets me to my question(s) biggest problem on SR20 FWD coversion was gearbox, right? I know about firewall distributor issue, I`m not worried about it... Second, THIS bell housing pattern looks like RWD SR20DET? (I would use ca18det gearbox)

Sry for my english... :)

The SR20DE and the SR20DET blocks are different. The DET block is stronger with stronger internals and also has oil squirters for the pistons.

I believe that in order to fit your CA18DET transmission to the SR20DE, you would need to swap the bell housing on the transmission.
