200sx...put in new battery and alarm wont go off?

In my 200sx I just put in a new battery. Unfortunately when I connect the battery the alarm goes off immediately. When i bought the car the previous owner only had the vallet key. I dont know if there is a way to over-ride the alarm or what. Any help would be appreciated.

What happens when you put the key in the ignition and turn it on?

I knew someone else with another 200sx that did that, nothing changed with the key in. You could start and drive my friends 200sx with the factory alarm going off still... Dont recall a solution - one day it just stopped.
