200sx no spark?

Hi all. I have a 81 datsun 200sx, I started the car this morning and backed up 50ft when it sputtered and died. Tried to start it back up ,engine turned but would not start.Checked fuel had plenty, so I pulled a plug wire, turned engine no spark. Now I pulled coil wire from cap,no spark.I then pulled other coil wire from cap same responce.I checked coil connections top and bottom with multi meter for voltage, they had 12volts. I am not familiar with datsuns but any help wouldbe appreciated. Thank you,stevo52.

did you make sure to ground the side of the plug to a bolt on the head, and dont do it near the plug hole, if fuel sprays out the plug hole it will burn a jet straight to your hand

Hi 240kidI pulled plug grounded grounded it on engine bolts three different places no spark.I am leaning towards coils being bad.Thanks for your reply.stevo52
