200sx 1.8T 1989 need some help please

i have a 200sx s13 with the 1.8 T i am getting a noise when i rev it up then keep reving it from about 3000 to 4000 rpm it is sounding like tappets but i'v checked the gaps and all ok it is also smoking??? i have done a head gsk on it about 3 weeks ago please help thanks
