I am pretty much getting really a good running KA24de with 200k miles on it for free and getting a stock sr turbo setup for 100. So here is my dilemma if I change out crank, rods, pistons, waterpump, new head will the block be alright with that many miles on it?

Also note I dont really care to make big numbers I just want to have a fun car maybe run 7-8lbs of boost.

If the KA runs as good as you say it does and its cylinders have good and even compression numbers (155psi or more IIRC), I'd only invest in a new oil pump and water pump to run a stock SR setup, plus fuel and engine management...

But at the same time a stock rebuild will only run you around 1k, which in my mind is well worth it just for the piece of mind when your taking that 200 miles road trip.

As for the block inspect it, replace the freeze plugs all though not necessary, and definitely replace the water pump.

Might want to look into a new dizzy assembly too.

If all done right for the prices you just shot on the kit your getting, you can have a nice reliable mild powered 240 for under 1500.

Thanks guys reliability is a main point I kinda want to stick with bc like you said 200 mile road trip that would keep my mind at ease with a rebuild so I m gonna think some more on this and then I ll update you guys when I actually do it.
