Based on corporate experiences (nobody can say for sure yet), the Nissan stands a much better chance of being better crafted and more reliable than the VW.

Wow! Although I agree with Palmateer about being skeptical about VW's longterm reliability, that 2.0L Turbo with DSG in my Rogue would be AWESOME!!!

I really wish we could see more cross-company collaborations, ala Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe.

I wonder if Nissan would honor a hacked up Rogue with said engine in place

I read somewhere that Nissan and Chrysler are collaborating on two vehicles, specifically, Nissan will design and build a subcompact car for Chrysler; Chrysler, in turn, will build a full-size pick up per Nissan design specs for Nissan.

I believe a 'Tiptronic' 6 speed conventional auto is initially offered in the Tiguan. Apparently the DSG transmission will be added later.

Apples & Oranges. The Tiguan is in a different class than the Rogue, more refined, sophisticated, better performance on and off road.

Definitely offroad - http://www.motortrend.com/road....html

It's meant to be a less expensive choice than a BMW. Or in the higher class SUV's like Murano or Highlander.

We'll see about reliability, mainly depends on where they are built.

The Tiguan was my ultimate choice, if they offer a diesel, but we are sporting the Rogue now, which we are very happy with.

That 2.0 L with 6-speed gets pretty terrible gas mileage.

If I was going to buy a vehicle with fuel efficiency in that range, I'd probably buy something bigger like a Hyundai Santa Fe, at least I'd get more people and cargo capacity in exchange for the crappy mileage.
