Nissan Sport Mag says that the 2009 Nissan Titan will have a diesel option... however last we all heard the heavy duty and diesel platforms were axed. I'm waiting to see what comes of this news... possibly a standard duty diesel? Not sure how that'd go over, but hmmmmm...

I'd love to see a Diesel version come out. I might have to upgrade a couple of years after it is released to a used one if it does.

Supposedly, the Titan will have a Navistar diesel. Navistar is the company that builds the Ford Powerstroke. Ford and Navistar haven't been getting along well lately, and Ford looks ready to drop Navistar.

That move seems backward to me, though: It makes sense for Ford to outsource their diesel motors. It doesn't make sense for Nissan to do it (not for me, anyway).Like some other Japanese brands, Nissan has a good amount of experience with light-duty diesels in vehicles like the Atlas (cab-over modular utility/hauler) and Civilian (bus).

It does indeed look like there'll be a 1/2 ton diesel Titan. Probably something under 5 liters (personal guess here, nothing substantial to support it).

Ford is planning to offer a light-duty diesel in the F-150 around the same time.

A diesel option is very exciting...But I am not very impressed with the Ford/Navistar diesels. Apparently neither is Ford....Google Lawsuit and Navistar and Ford.

OWrd is that Navistar launched a lawsuit against Ford.....Me thinks there are some issues on the horizon.

Well looks is a 'to each his own' deal. Me personally? I like the Titan and Tundra aesthetics a lot, especially with a color-matched grille on the titan.

Meh the Tundra is a hit or miss with me. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I dont. I like the Titan b/c of its bold styling and presence. Nothin like seeing a huge nissan grill in your rearview. I know it used to scare me when they first came out lol.

I wanted to go the F150 route out of spite after I lemon law'd my 04' but you have to upgrade the Ford motor (to be even close to the stock Titan) and blah blah blah.... we wanted the LE amenities but it was about $4000 more to get it in the Ford... but that black Lariot (sp?) interior is georgous!!

...anywho, after the buyback I picked up this '05 as soon as it hit the lot which was 3 days later!!!

I gotta chime in and say the new Tundra is the ugliest pickup ever built.

(excluding the Ridgeline since a unibody POS cannot truly be called a truck)

Titans, the 2007+ Chevys, and the 2004+ F150s are all good looking trucks...I probably like the Ford the best too based on looks alone.

Give me the Nissan engine/trans in an F150, and I think it would be a good combo. Nissan can keep their failure prone D44 rears.

Maybe the article was written before the plans were axed, AFAIK they were. Kinda wishywashy...

Triumph had the same philosophy when they used their homegrown 3-liter OHC V8 in the Stag, instead of the Buick/Rover design.
