The tag lights on my 2009 Sentra will not work. I have been able to determine that the lights are controlled by a computer signal, and my best guess is that the computer is not energizing one of the many relays under the hood, can anyone help with this, which relay controls them and how can i fix the lights so they work again, it is not bad bulbs, just not getting power to them ?

Taken from the 2009 FSM:

The control of the parking, license plate and tail lamp operation is dependent upon the position of lighting switch. When the lighting switch is placed in the 1ST position, the BCM (body control module) receives input signal requesting the parking, license plate and tail lamps to illuminate. This input signal is communicated to the IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module engine room) via the CAN communication lines. The CPU (central processing unit) located in the IPDM E/R controls the tail lamp relay coil. This relay, when energized, directs power to parking, license plate and tail lamps, which then illuminate.

If your tail and parking lights are working, then I would suspect the wiring of the license plate lights is at fault somewhere along the line. If all the lights are out, then look at the IPDM and inside fusebox for a possible broken fuse or it could be the light switch not making a proper contact in the 1st position.

I had to repair ours, the wires run through a rubber tube on the drivers side of the trunk and somehow the wires were cut into with no damage to the rubber tube.Wire connectors with heat shrink was used and I wrapped it well with electrical tape and ensured the tube folded down out of the way of anything when closing the trunk. If I recall correctly the rubber tube had become dislodged from the trunk exposing the wires and the hole in the trunk they run through had really sharp edges.

Thank you for your previous post, that fixed the License plate light problem on my 2009 Nissan Sentra.
Here is my input on how to trouble shoot the license plate light problem on a 20009 Nissan Sentra
Problem A- No tail Lights, No license plate Lights, it is most likely that the fuse is blown see attached Fuse.png to see specific fuse location.

Problem B- Tail Lights ON, License plate Lights OFF
This is causes by a wire which was cut at the driver side in the trunk see attached, cut_wire.png
a) Remove rubber tube and inspect the wiring, in my case the wire was cut see attached cut_wire.png

b) Solder the wire and use heat shrink tubing to protect the wires from the sharp edge metal of trunk, somehow the wire get cut while opening/closing the trunk.
