I have changed my daughter's 2009 Rogue 3-4 times now.

I noticed when I remove the oil drainplug, there is a washer.
Does this washer need to be replaced everytime I change the oil?
Hondas and Subaru's do need new washers...

but the Chilton manual does not say anything about this.

Yes Nissan recommends replacing the copper crush washer, but I have reused in the past without issues. I guess if you do not over crush them they should still work again. Fine if it doesn't leak, but pain in the a** if you realize the used washer starts to leaks.
I just buy a bunch of these for pennies each.

I’ve never used washers and never had a leak. I eventually joined the boat for the heck of it.

Never used or never changed the crush washer? Hard to believe the threads of the oil drain plug will seal as they are just straight cut threads m12x1.25, and not meant for sealing(without a crush washer).

Well my 1990 Maxima, I never changed the washer if it even had one for a decade. Unless there was the original and I guess it was stuck there and I thought it’s that way.

I did replace my oem on the rogue with a magnetic plug and never used a washer like back with my maxima. I was never a car person so didn’t think about washers until I gain more knowledge through the internet and YouTube.

I mean, no harm, no foul back then since I never had problems.

So I now recently use washers since it’s the thing. :wavey:

FWIW, I have never replaced the washer on my 2015. Had it since new and I change oil about every 6 months/5000 miles. Never leaked a single drop.

Yeah you gotta just look and see if that washer crushes pretty evenly all the way round . That's when you find it being able to re-use over & over red rover. It's gonna leak , if at all is when you've first re-used the crush and didn't carefully look at it , that's when an under car check for leakage is needed for a few days after - better to check . But they're goofy alright , and usually work out ok without ALWAYS swapping in a new one

Copper crushes are just about infinitely reusable if you never over-torque them. The one on our '13 Altie came with the car and still doesn't leak a drop. Keep in mind that the differential metals aren't much different from using a lockwasher. Two days after you snug it up, Mr Galvanic has already assured that the plug isn't coming out again without effort. So after the initial crush (which should be torqued to spec), if you want to keep using the same washer, the operative word is "snug" and not "re-crushed".

I buy these off of Amazon, bag of 10 OEM crush washers for $6.00. Cheap insurance and one less thing to worry about whether I did it right.

Agreed, it’s cheap insurance. FYI, These are also used for the cvt drain plugs.

Oh neat!
I was thinking about changing the Diff fluid, Trans Fluid, and also the Transfer case fluid.

Each of them have the washer?

Transfer case and diff use larger aluminum washer, sorry I don't know the sizes off hand. I reused mine as they look good still.
As all have said here, you can reuse them as long as they have not been over crushed/torqued.
