Well the CVT it my rogue packed it in, unfortunately I'm 15K over the extended warranty. The car still runs great and looks good so I'm going to replace the CVT with a used one, if I can find one.
The problem I'm having is finding one for a rogue with a manufacture date of 07/08. When I check with the wreckers they list a interchange for pre 09/2008 and post 10/2008.
Does anyone know what the difference is after 09/2008?
I can find lots of post 9 month CVTs but none pre 09/2008

Thanks for your help

I'm not aware of any differences in any of the CVTs from 2008 to 2013, but even if you get a 2013 CVT, I wouldn't necessarily assume it won't fit your 2009. On the other hand, I certainly wouldn't assume it will fit, either.

You might want to ask the junk yards if they have a CVT for a 2008 Rogue, which definitely would have been manufactured prior to 09/2008.

If you can confirm the newer CVTs will fit your 2009, I would get newer, simply because a newer one will likely have better longevity from this point into the future.

I'm hoping I can use a newer one but I want to make sure before I try one.
Nissan lists the following part numbers
31020-1xt5c 06/01/2008 to 10/01/2008
31020-1xt9c 10/01/2008 to 08/01/2009
31020-3ux2c 09/01/2009 to 06/01/2010
31020-3ux3e 06/01/2010 to 06/01/2012
31020-3ux3e 06/01/2012 to 09/02/2015

So from 1 Jun 2010 on it's the same part number but different part numbers for earlier models. I'm just wondering if they are interchangeable or if there are some major changes

Thanks, Frank

All of those parts are referring to the same CVT part which is compatible with 2008 to 2013 Rogues. I encountered the same confusion when I had my 2008 CVT replaced late in 2009. The reason for the different part numbers appears to be a scramble by Nissan to address design flaws in early models, so they made some minor design changes and referened new part numbers, but the overall CVT transmissions were still designed to work with all Rogue's.

This information was compiled over many months of research and discussion with Nissan dealership staff who helped me through my failed CVT, which was delayed repeatedly due to Nissan continually trying to fine-tune the design to address weaknesses. For many weeks I was continually told that "Nissan is working on a fix, just wait until the next version is ready". The 2009 version that I received was even referred to as a "countermeasure CVT" by one Nissan rep, who was referring to the slack belt rattling that plagued early 2008 models, and which prompted Nissan to scramble and make many minor changes to this part.

If you use online parts search web sites, they should all tell you that these parts are interchangable (because they are in fact the same part, just with some minor "tweaks"). The later the version you can get your hands on, the better. Stay away from anything 2008 or early even early 2009 if you can, in my opinion.

So if you put an 09 in an 08 rogue do you have to reflash the tcm?
