My dad came home tonight saying he noticed a slight slippage in the transission going up some hills. He pulled over at an Oreilly's and he pulled the transmission dipstick out and it was like a notch below where it had a hot reading. Now can someone help me figure out what this might be?

That is a tough one, but basically perception is everything and the CVT takes some getting used to. Technically, if there literally was slipppage, the CVT would be toast, it's nothing like an old "slush box" where slippage is a normal so I doubt the belt was actually slipping but it sounds like there is a problem, a CVT does not slip but it is very common for it to feel like it is "slipping.

Regardless, if the transmission is performing different than normal and a change is evident, you should take it in to a Nissan service center and have it looked at. The good news is that you'll have full warrant as long as you're under 200,000 km. Let us know how this turns out please.
