AC stopped working so I brought it to shop to have them check it out.... That's one system on the car I don't work on. They tell me the compressor is shot and to do the job right they need to change the receiver / dryer too.... But they also told me that on the Rogue the receiver / dryer and the evaporator are all one combined unit under the dash ... Expensive part and hard to get to...
Net is all total $1400 to do complete repair ...... Guess I will be riding around with the windows down.... Has anyone had the compressor changed out on their Rogue? Did they change the dryer unit too?? What did it cost ......
Glad I fixed my slip and slide piece of garbage CVT with an oil change so far ..... Nissan had the nerve to tell me that their poorly
designed revolutionary CVT was going to cost me over $4000 to replace.....
Never another Nissan foe me again .... NEVER !!!! :tisk:
Thanks.

Yes, but we had just over 126K on the Rogue when it began having the problem. Dealer would not do anything for us.....
Most of the mileage is highway driving which is typically easy for a transmission, and most systems in the drivetrain. Symtom that developed was quite dangerous !!!! All of a sudden the engine would jump to 6000rpm or thereabouts and you would lose almost total power to the drive wheel... Car could go no more than 30 mph !!!! And we were on the freeway at a spot where the next exit was miles away...... We had tractor trailers buzzing by my at 70 mph while we limped along on the shoulder ,,, pretty dangerous !!!!
I did a careful transmission fluid change on it, putting back in the proper amount ( don't recall what that was right now, something like 4.2 US qts but don't use that ,, look it up on the forum )... Used the super expensive Nissan NS-2 fluid.... $20 per qt..... Been about 1000 miles now and so far,,, no slipping ....... $100 fix... Will see how long it lasts....... I think that some of these transmission problems are caused by thermal breakdown of the fluid...
I noticed if I let the car sit for 20 to 30 minutes after the slipping starts, it would be OK again, for a limitted amount of time....
Weird symtoms....... I still say it's a flawed design... Hopefully they fixed it on the newer ones....

Does your Rogue have the transmission cooler?

My Air Conditioning compressor just blew up on 3 days ago on my 2002 CRV. After reading all the info, guess I was lucky it lasted that long. Dealership quoted 1300 in parts and 700 in labor for a total of $2000! Have 73,000 miles and considering trading in for a Toyota Prius! Totally disappointed that my dealership made no mention of this being a common problem.
