I have a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder. About 6 months ago the fog light (driver's side) started filling with water. It is now totally filled with water, light isn't working (obviously) and is beginning to rust. Now the headlight has water condensation and also has a little water. There is no crack in either the fog or hard and the car has not been in an accident.
Went to Nissan (not dealer where I purchased but one closer) and they quoted me $571. Fog light - $136.22, labor $49. Head light - $281, labor $105. They weren't able to diagnose the issue unless they did a further inspection (lift, take lights out). I declined and displayed my utter dissatisfaction. Mileage is 39k so warranty has expired. Service tech told me to contact Nissan.
Called Nissan and explained the issue. Told them that my mechanic believes that it is either a faulty seal or the car was damaged prior to being purchased. They looked into the matter and called back w/in a week. NO financial assistance offered. This is my 2nd Pathfinder and needless to say I am disgusted that Nissan will not offer any compensation.
My mechanic said he could fix for around $420.
Any advice? Should I call Nissan again and ask to speak with a supervisor or go to the dealer where I purchased car?
Does anyone know if there has been a fog and/or headlight recall on the 09s?
Thanks!
eta: i also have a 2001 pathy with no fog, head or ANY other issues. yeah, i am/WAS a repeat nissan customer but obviously they don"t care.
