Hello, my name is Mark E. and i am new to the forum.
I haven troubleshooting my AC compressor in recent months and it appears to be a bad clutch.
However, many reports i have read show that the compressor will not be able to be manually turned if the clutch is bad.
With the engine off, the compressor (inside pulley) on my 2009 pathfinder can be rotated with some resistance but not much.
There is also voltage going to the compressor when the AC is activated at the console.
I also thought that there may be a bad ground from the ECM, however, i attempted to wire the compressor directly to the battery, (connected the terminal at the compressor to positive of battery, and negative terminal to the chassis) and no clutch engagement.
I also disconnected the triple pressure switch and the voltage to the compressor went to zero, reconnected the pressure switch and voltage came back. So unless there is a grounding issue at the ECM or somewhere, the pressure switch is attempting to do it's job.
I just wanted to get anyone's thoughts if i missed anything or my attempts at forcing the clutch to engage were incorrect?
i just want to exhaust my options before i break down, discharge the system, replace the compressor, and recharge.
thanks,
Mark E.
