2009 Nissan rogue trans over heating

Hi guys,

This one is annoying me have a 09 rogue with 215000kms on the clock an its doing the limp mode s***, had Nissan change the fluid, didn't help bought that adapter kit an intercooler put that on an its still heating on cvtz50. One thing I notice is when I pulled the cooler off the trans to add on that adapter plate. There was a little round filter right under the transmission cooler as soon as you remove the 4 bolts. Its not one of those inline ones, it plugs into the side of the trans right behind the cooler. But Nissan is telling me that's impossible. The transmission has never been touched so how the hell does it get there. Can I remove it an run without it? As I'm thinking that's my restriction as it didn't look great. Any thoughts on this or know where I can get said filter?
