Hello everybody!

My Bluebird Sylphy shifter gets stuck at the P position with the knob that releases the stick refusing to be pushed fully "noting the break is fully depressed". BUT, with multiple trials of moving the stick in its place i hear the "tick" sound and the button releases allowing the stick to move normally smoothly and everything else goes normal.

So if the sensor for the solenoid valve is related to the break, why does it open when slightly moving the stick keeping the same break press?!!!

Also, sometimes right after ignition and depressing the break, i hear the tick sound and the lock opens immediately normally without trying to move the stick!!

may the stick be slightly dislocated, or needing lubrication?!! need to know the mechanism to be able to understand...

would be very grateful for any help!! Thanks!

Hi and welcome to NICO Club!

Where do you drive a Bluebird Sylphy?

For this, I'd try taking a look at the FSM. I don't know what car you have, so here's a link to all of them that we have (mostly US models) and you can find it yourself. Maybe it's closest to a Sentra. I think you'll be looking for shift controller selector and park/ neutral switch type components... not sure though. You have a CVT, is that correct?

Please let us know how it goes and if you can't find what you're looking for.
