2009 Murano tailgate stopped working

The lift gate on my 2009 Murano stopped working today. It opens as it should, automatically, with the button inside the vehicle and with the key fob, but only unlocks the rear door when I push the button on the door itself. I can hear it unlock, but no movement, so I opened the door manually. Then to close it, the button on the door wouldn't work either so I closed it manually.

I checked for something caught in the door, but nothing is there. Any ideas?

Don't know if you have an answer yet or not. I have a 2010 Murano, there is an on/off switch for the power lift gate, it is on the lower left part of the dash. The switch is above where the hood latch is, lower that the steering wheel.

If this switch is in the off position it disables the power button on the tailgate. I am not sure why Nissan designed it this way as your key fob and the dash tailgate lift button still work.
