On the 09 Murano (I have an LE), the NAV system shows a bunch of yellow dots on the road. I initially thought this was traffic, but that is incorrect. What are the yellow dots? And on the traffic function, does it just show accidents, or flow of traffic also?

Sounds like you have the "display route tracking" function enabled in the nav settings (it may not be called that exactly). You can diasable it in the nav settings.

You'll get a voice warning of accidents and congestion along your route only if you have a destination set.

Without any set destination you can get nearby traffic info manually through the system or check the map for any roads that are flashing red.

You are correct, that is the display route tracking, and can easily be turned off in the Navigation Settings menu.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help.

How does it display traffic. I noticed on the interstate it shows red, yellow or green (depending on traffic) but not on other main roads, just interstate. Anyone else notice anything different?

I think they can only display traffic flow based on what's being reported by police, media and traffic observers (did you ever see the "traffic.com" cars cruising down the highway? I see them all the time on PA interstates.) If nobody monitors a road then there will be no report.

It probably depends on your proximity to a major metropolitan area. In Pittsburgh the traffic coverage is fairly thorough. I get reports for all major arteries in the city. About 15-20 miles outside of Pittsburgh and congestion reporting is not as good.
