I've been learning from this site since taking delivery of our 09 Murano SE about five weeks ago. I've owned a number of different SUVs over the years and the Murano is hands down the best of the pack. The local temps warmed up this weekend so I took the opportunity to wash the road salt and grime off. I was dismayed to note two significant chips in the paint on the leading edge of the hood. We have only driven 1200 miles so far. The color is Glacier Pearl and the primer or base coat is black so the chips are quite visible. Is the Glacier Pearl any more vulnerable to chipping? What is the best way to protect the front end? I'm not crazy about front end bras. But that perception is based on one I owned 20 years ago. What about hood deflectors? I see Nissan and WeatherTech both sell hood protectors for the Murano. I'm open to suggestions and recommendations from the veterns here. TIA

I went with the Roadblock (clear urethane) paint protection system, purchased from the Nissan dealer, when I bought my 04 SE in Oct. 04. Now, 60K miles and (obviously) 4 1/2 years later there is nary a paint chip on the front end.

This system is almost invisible. There is a slight line you can see up close where the urethane ends, but it is still way less obvious and clunky looking than a bra or bolt on hood protector.

This system is a little pricey (mine was $595) and would be most beneficial when the car is new - i.e. zero front end chips to begin with.

Website for the roadblock system (back in 04, so I'm not sure if it's still valid) was http://www.autobahndint.com.
