Our 2009 Max just started having a burning smell out of the heating vents. The dealer could not find anything. Has anyone else had the same problem?

can you explain this "burning smell" a bit better? it only comes when you use ac, or heat, or both? what happens when you turn the car off, but still allow the power to power the vent fans - still smell it? does it ever not smell when the car sat over night and you turn it on first thing in the morning? are you sure its not the smell of rotting eggs?(catalytic converter going)

check the air filter for sticks, leaves, and other debris that gets in there. sometimes the hot engine coolant that enters the heater core can begin to cook the leaves/debris up nicely.

Thanks for your reply. It is a smell similar to brning wire insulation. It comes from the dash vents. I ran the fan for 30 mintes without the engine running, no smell. After the vehicle heats up the smell starts. As you drive you don't smell it, normal nose sensitiivity, but you get a headache.

do yourself a fave and check your air filter. clean up in there and try and see what is solved(if anything).

even if you dont have a new filter just go in there and vacuum it out and see whats going on. you might have a dead rodent in there(im not even kidding you)
