I was at the auto show this weekend and sat in the 09 m45x for about a half hour dreaming of owning one... ohhh it was nice. So I am wondering about the stereo, is it the same as the one available back to 06-07 in the m35x that I am actually going to buy (hopefully soon) because it was amazing, speakers on the seats and all, bass was good too. Was that exact system available back then?

from the best of knowledge (someone can correct me if i'm wrong) , but if you purchase an 06+ M35/M45 with the technology package, speakers will be in the seats too. Your M will have a 14 speaker 5.1 surround sound setup. very nice setup in my opinion. and from the sound of it, it looks like Infinity agrees as they are keeping the speakers in the seats as well for the 09's.

I'm not sure what it was for the '06 and '07 (didn't they still have the "journey" package then?) but for 2008 and 2009 you need to either have the Premium package or the Advanced Tech package to get the 14 speaker system with the speakers in the seats. The Tech package only gets you the 8 speaker Bose system.

I have the 14 speaker system in my M and am not impressed with it at all in the stereo mode. In fact, it is rather disappointing. However, if you put an HD cd or a movie in, the sound is incredible. Just something to keep in mind. The good thing is you get a lot of other features with the advanced tech package that out weighs the disappointing stereo system and make the package worth it.

I heard that Nissan pulled out of the Auto show. I guess this didn't extend to the Infiniti lineup. I might have to check it out tonight.

I've got the '06 Premium Package. You know, I've heard a number of folks complain about the Bose 5.1 x14 speaker system. It has been a small number, but you always notice negative feedback more than positive. As Shakespeare so aptly put it: "The evil that men do lives on. The good is oft interred in their bones."

Regardless, I couldn't be happier w/my Bose setup. If it's the same on the '09 you will be lucky-according to my ears.

The Infiniti 14-speaker Bose system is one of the best sound systems on this planet regardless of the vehicle's price. The only system I found better was the Lexicon system in the new Hyundai Genesis.

The two I would compare would be the Mark Levinson in the Lexus 460 and the THX sound sytem in the Lincoln MKX -- we almost bought the Lincoln just for the sound system - but in the end we went with the EX35 and the Premium package to get the best sound system for that car. It's good, just not great. As for the THX in the Lincoln, I Played a CD -- Eric Clapton "unplugged" and there were notes and instruments we never heard on our other car with a Bose system. The Mark Levinson was a close second. I have not heard the newest Bose in the M series - my '03 M45 Bose is OK -- just OK.

The Bose 14 speaker system is excellent. The only problem is it doesn't play loud. And the bass is weak. But unless you're willing to pay more than 10k you can't improve it.

This is a stretch. If I spent $2500 to upgrade any stock system there would be significant improvement. I do agree with the previous statements though, when compared to most stock systems it does sound good. I do think however they put a lot of energy into making it sound great in surround mode and left a lot on the table in stereo mode, which is where I would think the majority of owners spend most of their time.

Here's another interesting thread with some more comments on the system.

I wouldn't call the Bass "weak" but yes, I personally have it 4 ticks below max level. The Hip-Hop music puts out plenty of Bass, however, some older stuff, I do have to crank it to the max and believe me, it shakes up the seat and the rearview mirror. It is pretty strong when on Max.

If even more Bass is needed, just put something like a Bazooka Bass Tube in the truck. http://www.sasbazooka.com/prod...s-S68

I have a 2006 M35 sport with all the goodies and it has the Bose 14 speaker surround. I happen to think that its AWESOME!!! It sounds incredible..........wait for it.......wait for it..........for a CAR. Remember people, this is a car 1st and a home theater 2nd. So for all of you audiophiles out there saying that the 14 speaker sound is "weak" or "awful" or "could be better" stop comparing it to your home theater in your house and remember that this is an automobile.

I will agree jmcclain01 on one point................if you do watch a DVD or listen to a DVD audio disc, the sound does get even better

You are correct, it is a car, and for that the sound is still just okay at best. There is no way I would buy this car for the sound of the 14 speaker Bose system. My previous comments were based on comparisions with other mobile audio systems, granted they're custom, but none the less mobile systems. For the extra money you're spending to get the 14 speaker system you could put that into a custom system and get a much better sound and probably have some money left over. That led to my comment about all the other goodies that come with the advanced tech package that make it worth the money. If you don't care about the other goodies in the package, save the money, buy a car with out the advanced tech and put a custom system in it, you'll be much happier.

You are correct - Chicagoland dealers decided to put on a modest showing of their cars in the space reserved for Nissan. No concepts, no future vehicles.
