I have a 2009 M35X with about 235K miles.

At about 40 mph I can hear a low vibrational noise that is directly related to tire speed not engine RPM. The sound is not metal on metal but more of a rubber or plastic sounding vibration.

I got new rear brakes today and they checked most of the likely usual suspects calipers, bearings, etc and found nothing. Within the last 2 months I also got new tires.

Any suggestions of what this could be? Could a loose plastic part be causing this noise in the wind.

Does it get better/worse when you turn the wheel? Is the noise in the front or in the back? What kind of tires?

I'm afraid without more information, we can't be of much help.

I had horrible road noise on my '09 M35x and thought it was wheel bearings in the front. Nope, just a bad alignment.
Fixed mine. Might help with yours.

If you have a Bell Tire nearby, they will often check it for free and not charge if it doesn't need it.

I believe the brake lines have rubber grommets that allow them to be pressed into a "U" shaped holder to secure them from rattling. Perhaps one of them was not put back and its rattling.

Noise doesn’t change when wheel is turned.

Wheels were recently aligned and rebalanced when new tires were put on 2 months ago.

Since I have a very high mileage car I purchased the Mavis store brand tire to save $$$.

Can tires make this kind of noise?

Yes it can very well be simply the noise the new tire makes. Depending on tread pattern and composition tires can make varying degrees of noise.

Noise does not change over various road surfaces.

Can you record the noise and post it here. It would be easier to diagnose if we could actually hear the noise.

Turned out to be a front wheel bearing going bad even though they didn’t appear loose.
Replaced bearings and noise is gone.
