I looked into this myself a few years back. I stuck with Nissan-Matic ATF. I shop for it online.
I am sure there must be a few fluids out there that meet Nissan OEM specs, but since owning my 06 M35x, the original Nissan ATF fluid was upgraded from NissanMatic J to Nissan-Matic S. I was not able to confirm if the alternates met the "S" standards, so I just stayed with Nissan-Matic.

The 07 M requires Nissan Matic-J fluid per the dealer.
I actually researched this about 2 years ago when I had a transmisison service on my 07 M. Here is what I found. Mind You .... this is a two-year old post that I am pasting in here.
I decided toi bite the prune and have Infiniti do it on my old 07 and I just had it done on my 09 M - also at the dealer. They gave me a break on the labor as they were already doing the coolant system flush / fill at the same time.

My 07 "required" Nissan Matic-J.
This fluid is a semi synthetic JASO 1A spec ATF actually made by Castrol and sold to nissan who then puts their name on it and slaps all the dire warnings on everything in their vehicles about substitutions, but the fluid is nothing more than Castrol Transmax Import which castrol made to work in all JASO 1A spec Japanese auto trannys.

A few universal ATFs that you can breath easy about switching to now are Amsoil ATF, Motul ATF-1A, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, Amalie Universal Synthetic ATF.

Hope this helps!

Absolutely use Nissan ATF fluid, please! This is mentioned in bold print in many places in the service manual for a good reason.

Either Nissan J or S will be accepted.

Any other fluid will definitely void your warranty (if you have any still on your car).

That's what I ended up doing as well. I just had mine changed at the dealer - also the coolant system service. I have no doubt I paid more than I could have, but I wanted clear documentation that Infiniti serviced the car. As we all know, warranty companies are basically insurance companies and you can be 100% right in your claim but they will still try to avoid payment. No reason to make it easier for them to play games with you.
