I just got an 09 M35 sport and transmission seems to hang and have trouble finding right gear when going 20-30mph in neighborhoods. And is sometimes a bit rough when it shifts finally.

Is there a dipstick for this year and model searched and don't see the dipstick with 10mm bolt.

Also I have seen other years have had some luck with a software update. But I can't find much info on 09's

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah definitely check the fluid...but I'm not sure about the dipstick. How many miles on the car? That might help someone else diagnose.

I could have sworn that there's a dipstick poking out on the passenger side between the cylinder head and firewall... but I have not had much interaction with an 09.
Since you just got the car, I would recommend taking it to an infiniti dealership for a check up. A tech might confirm what you already know, or they might be able to check for the software updates and even check for correct fluid level (I don't usually trust myself with Nissan trans dipsticks. I just have them use the software to determine it).

Check again to see if you have a "charge tube", it sits a bit low on the passenger side of the engine compt. between the firewall & the engine beauty cover. You should see it, along with the 10mm bolt that keeps the cap secured. The cap has a dipstick attached. Best to start with checking trans. level using procedure outlined in FSM.

It doesn't have a dipstick. It's a sealed trans. The fill tube is on the pan and needs to be pumped in. When the trans fluid is warm, it's full when it begins coming out of that hole.
