I am wondering what others have done as far as replacing their P235/55/20 Toyos when they are worn out? I have been a customer of Tire Rack for many years and I'm totally bummed that the 2009 Murano came with such an oddball and hard to find tire size. I see that Toyo has another model now in that size called the Open Country H/T, but I'd like to have a few more choices as far as models and specs are concerned. What have others done with respect to replacing the OEM tires and is anyone running the new Toyo model mentioned above? I read that other thread where using a different size can void your warranty, so I would really like to avoid that at all costs.

I am running Toyo 265/50R20. They are a longer lasting tire, so they are not as soft. Took some getting used to and had to be balanced more than once (which the shop I use did for free), but they look good and perform well.

Hey Laurin,

I knew you would reply to my message as I saw your thread earlier about this issue and how you were grappling with it! Are you running custom wheels on your LE or just the stock rims that came with the vehicle? If custom please let me know which brand you're running and the width. I don't understand why Nissan would choose such an oddball size of tire for the LE - it just doesn't make good sense to have loyal customers left in the lurch with one (or no) options for OEM size replacement tires. I'm going to see if Tire Rack will do a special order for me, but I still have a lot of life left in my current set of Toyos. I only have 12K so far.

Thanks,Scheib

Custom WheelsIncubus Shylock (http://www.discountwheeloutlet.com/inc/sdetail/968)Not sure on the width. Just emailed my dealer to see if he can tell me, but I ran the stock tires on these custom wheels before they wore out.

I agree and it is very strange. Nissan said they could get them for me, but they were 250 a piece (just for the tire.) I got mine installed for less than 900.

Those are some cool looking wheels! I just wish Nissan would have put some more thought into the OEM size they put on the 2009 LE. I've actually looked at a 245/50/20 on Tire Rack, but there aren't an over abundance of that size available either. They better not give me any guff about the warranty if they are going to put a tire on the vehicle that is essentially a ghost in the marketplace. I guess I'll just have to go with a different size when the time comes, but I actually have at least 20K left of wear on my current set.

I just bought a pre owned '09 LE last night and the first thing I did this morning was check the tire rack since I will need new tires before too long. Can't believe you can't even get one brand in the original size. How is it possible that the tires they are putting on the brand new ones is not even available?

An 09 needs tires already? How many miles are on the used one you just got?

Just turned 18,000 miles. They don't need replaced yet, but they don't look that great so I thought I would check out what was out there. I would not mind getting some bigger tires to fill the wheel wells a little better.

Yikes, sounds like a lot of hard miles on that baby already. Good luck.

Looks like more tire brands are coming up with our odd size we need.Yoko has now both 18' and 20' for our Murano:

For the winter Nokian has very good tires but we have to buy an extra set of wheels by 18' or make a compromise:

Yes sir, and it looks like Michelin is in the game now too with the OEM size! I'm about to turn 13,000 on my 2009 LE and I think I checked the Tire Rack for replacement options about one week after I bought the vehicle. Some of us just like to plan ahead and see what our options are well in advance.

There's only one way to get 18K miles on an 09 and that's to do a lot of highway driving. If the oil was changed regularly and the maintenance is up to snuff I wouldn't worry about your new purchase GT-R!
