Car: '09 Maxima Premium- Dark Slate on Charcoal

Post

I am hoping to start a discussion about the "Information Center", "IC" here on out, in the '09 Maxima and other vehicles to find bugs and workarounds.

I am hoping that Nissan provides some updates to the "IC" as the menu system is not very organized and using the steering wheel controls for the satellite radio is horrible.

The car I just got rid of for my 09 Maxima was a 95 300ZX Twinturbo so the in-dash screen and controls are a little new. I am not sure if Nissan has ever had updates to their systems like this.

I want to list a few of the problems I have with the system right now.

iPod control is decent but I cannot browse my individual songs, artists, or albums. I have a 160GB iPod Classic. It is about 3/4 full and I figure it would take it some time to pull up the list but I have waited 30 minutes or more and it had never come up.

No Scrolling text when the radio picks up RDS information or song info from XM??? WTF?? This has got to be added!!

Speaking of XM. There is apparently no way to set how the tuning of the XM is handled from the steering wheel. You can only change your presets from the steering wheel. The only way to tune outside of your presets is with the primary tuning knob. This seems like an oversight. At least during FM playback you can hold down the tuning switch on the steering wheel to have it scan to the next station. On XM it just jumps around randomly.

XM reception seems really poor. I was using Sirius in my Z so I'm not sure if this is an XM problem or the way it is mounted on the Maxima.

Anyone know of a way to unlock the mandatory park for video playback yet?

What about video playback from the iPod? The "IC" doesn't even recognize that it has that ability. I realize this is probably for safety reasons but it would be nice if that feature were there at least while parked.

These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate it. I just wish it were better.

Any information anyone has would be helpful.

I'm sorry, but your car is broken. You'll have to give it to me so I can fix it.

Seriously: is this a matter of a software upgrade?
