It looks like the G37 Sedan is a reality, at least, an European reality. Which means it can't be too far away from these shores.

The European-spec 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan. There's the 3.7-liter V6 in the engine bay.

A few shots of the upgraded interior. Changes are subtle over the U.S.-spec version, and the lighting doesn't make them easy to see. Still, the finishes for the vinyls and plastics are indeed more matte. We've circled the new metal knobs for the seat heaters -- they're nicely damped.

Except for the new placement of the seat heater controls, nothing new here.

a cutaway of the new 5.0-liter V8 engine. Not for the G (yet?).

meh, 24 more hp and way up high in the RPM band.... if I were buying another G anyway yes that would be a bonus. 24 more hp doesn't make me want to rush out and trade in the 07 though.

I would love to race the 306 hp sedan against the 330 hp sedan to see if the 24 hp even gave a tenth of a second advantage.

That cut away V8 is sweet! You'll see it in a M50 and you'll see the 3.7 in a M37 maybe next year or the year after. The 5.0 will not be available in a G because if it were no one would be interested in the GTR.

There's way more to the GTR than just it's engine!

I agree the GTR is more then just the an engine BUT

A 390 hp 5.0 V8 in a 3500 lb car is equally attractive as a 420 hp v6 in a 4000 lb car. If you don't understand I can't explain it any better.

Its the same reason the BMW 335 is tuned to be slower then the M3.

I think I could agree with that if the GTR wasn't being offered in such limited numbers. I think a G50 might fit in to the lineup as an up-level luxury sport car, not as competition to the GTR. I, like you, doubt it is going to happen any time soon though.

I get the attraction, but for the true enthusiast, I would hope they'd be able to look at the sum of the GTR's parts versus just the engine. When reviews of the GTR are heavily comparing to/giving it an edge over, some of the best that Porsche has to offer, I'd doubt the same could be said by just squeezing a 5.0 into the G37.

Also not sure if the bracket that would buy a G37 sedan could afford, or rather would be in the market for, the GTR.

Well from what i've seen, it is a possibility and the best thing is that it will be much faster then the coupe because its going to be much lighter with the same HP I believe, I would say to wait for this car either in 09 or 10, but I have high hopes for 09

I wonder how it compares in weight to the G37 Coupe?

Any info on that?

Nice find!

Well I think I posted a thread about the G37 a while back ago, I really can't remember, but I know I was reading that it was going to be significantly lighter, anywhere from 200-300lbs lighter, so at this moment, who knows, but this car will be super hawt

I don't know how well this will sell in Europe. Gas is expensive there and people buy 2L or Diesel cars... even on big cars like G. I would like to see a turbo diesel version of G.

Isn't the GT-R 475 HP? I would still rather shoehorn that 5.0 into my Coupe than buy a GT-R anyway...

Dinan resolves those silly 335i issues. =p
