Hi everyone. I’m new here. I was hoping to get some help or insight on an issue I have.

First the car goes into limp mode randomly while driving and won’t rev past 2400 RPM. I have to shut the engine off for a few seconds then turn it back on and it will drive fine.

2 times the SES light came on but had no codes.

Oil pressure 16-21psi at idle. 50psi at 2k RPM.
This was at operating temp, I didn’t have an oil temp gauge to use.
Could it still be the rear timing cover oil gaskets?

Or the VVEL?
That’s the next issue. A very light ticking noise occurs sometimes at idle. If I shut the engine off and start it back, it takes a few seconds for the ticking to reappear. I read that was a sign to see if the VVEL is bad, to shut the engine off and turn back on while the VVEL reset.

I have done this so far.
Cleaned MAF sensors
New air filters
New oil change

Shop wants $500 to swap oil gallery gaskets Or $85 to diagnose it. Car runs great the rest of the time, besides the transmission down shifts, which I hear is normal.

Thanks in advance.
