Greetings from CT,

I'm a new Infiniti owner having bought my first, a 2009 G37X with 26,000 miles. I love the car, just need lots of spare time to get through the manuals and figure it all out.

I do have a couple questions though. Is it normal for the auto trans. when coasting to a stop at a light or stop sign to downshift noticeably in the 10-15 mph range or so in the lower gears? If you time it wrong, you have to give it some gas to get up to the light, it really slows down any momentum.

Next, if you travel over a rough, bumpy road and keep your hand on the shift lever, you can feel it bounce in your hand, almost as if the drive train is on rubber mounts, is that a normal experience?

Lastly, both the driver side door and front passenger door lock/unlock rocker switch on the arm rests are not back lit under the unlock portion of the switch. I assume both sides are burnt out or not functional as they are both out. Is there an easy fix to get them back working and if so, how?

I look forward to my driving experience with the car and interaction on the forum.

Thanks.

Dave

the 7speed auto transmission has downshift rev matching enabled all the time, that is what you are most likely experiencing. There is a TCM update the will smooth out the 7speed transmission, what is dose is take the aggressive down shift rev matching of out normal Drive or "D" and only using aggressive downshift rev matching in Drive Sport or "DS" mode. So id get your car to the dealer and get the latest TCM sotware update and that will solve your problem with the transmission.

as far as the shifter boucing i guess i never really paid attenetion to that, but the shifter is phsically connected to the transmission so im not surpried some vibration is transmitted. You could have some loose linkage maybe, while you are at the dealer for the TCM update get them to check out your shifter. as long as your car is under 70k mile drivetrain warranty, any adjustment to the transmission (TCM) software and shifter linkage should be covered under warranty.

both of the unlock buttons should be blacklit... idk if its as easy as changing a light bulb, im betting its a whole assembly. But if your car is still under general warranty that would be another free fix at the dealer.
