I know there has been a lot of talk about this, but I think I'm having a DIFFERENT problem than reported anywhere here, so I am posting this as a new topic. If I'm wrong, please correct me, thanks.

Just bought a 2009 G37 with Premium Package. When I plug in my 2nd G iPod touch the iPod makes the connection beep, the charging symbol appears, and the iPod screen says "Accessory Detected." However, the Infiniti display says "no iPod connected."

This sounds different from the problem most people are having, where it sounds like 2nd Gen iPod Touches will play through the infiniti just fine, but just not charge without using an adapter like the Scosche Passport.

Is this all the same problem solved by an adapter like the Scosche Passport, or is this a separate issue?

Thanks!

It definitely SOUNDS like a different problem... do you have someone else's iPod/iPhone to connect up to it?

I just read the rpess release from Infiniti after this happened which clearly says "Please note that while charging may not be supported, playback and control through the vehicle’s audio system are still available."

Since I can't do playback, this clearly seems a different issue. I think the previous post has the best idea, find another iPod and see if this is specific to my iPod of all iPods, the latter which would indicate I have a bad cable or something more serious.

So I Tried plugging in an iPhone 3GS and got the same error message. Then I tried plugging in a older iPod classic and it worked perfectly. Someone in another forum said they had this trouble with their iPhone 3GS and after resetting the iPhone it then worked.

So, I know the cable works, and the car inferface works, but it's refusing to accept my 2nd Gen iPod Touch or a 3GS iPhone

Any suggestions?

you might try doing a "restore" on the iPod, it's part of iTunes sync functionality (you can then reinstall all your music and apps onto it from your computer, provided you sync regularly...)

So, I restored my iPod, effectively restoring factory settings and erasing all music off it, then when I loaded just a few songs back on the car would now recognize it. Problem solved, or so I thought... So, I started the LONG process of putting back all my music, and with about 20 GB worth of songs the car inferface worked perfectly. I then continued loading songs until about 30 GB, or just about everything I want on there was loaded, and now the car won't recognize the iPod, I get the same "No Ipod is connected message" I had in the first place

Very confused here...

The software on the newer iPods is not fully compatible with the car iPod software...at this point, only older models are going to work without problems...

It's just the way it is for now... :-\

I have an 09 G37 with the Premium package and I also use a 2nd gen Ipod Nano. I specifically bought the 2nd gen off Ebay so it would charge through the Infiniti supplied cable. I've only been using it for a week (just bought the car and the ipod), but I haven't experienced this problem. One time it said Ipod not connected but I just hit the voice button and said Ipod again and it synced up just fine. I did erase my Ipod and made sure it had the latest software loaded on it. Other than that one little hiccup it has worked like a champ. I do have to turn it off after I'm done driving though. It doesn't seem to turn itself off automatically.

Edit: oops noticed you have a 2nd gen touch not nano. The touch probably uses USB to charge, not firewire.

I recently purchased a 2000 Coupe with Nav and my iPhone 3GS works just fine. When I connect the iPod interface works perfectly with 27GB of songs on it. Sounds like there might be a max capacity maybe????

I can tell you that it does not charge, but that is because in the newer iPods and 3G phones the "power" pin configuration changed. Apples way of making sure you have to by new cables which are ofcourse backwards compatible.

Waiting for Infiniti to come out with an updated cable that does it all. Right now I have to use a poor quality adapter that does not lock on.

This has occasionally happened with my '09 G37 & ipod touch. Its the cable. There are warnings in the owners manual that it must not be bent too much, which is hard not to do given the tight space in the console. I have been able to get mine working by disconnecting and reconnecting it a couple of times. Try moving it around & see if it doesn't suddenly start to work. If that doesn't help, your best bet is to take it in and see if you can get the dealer to try a different cable with your ipod to verify the problem.
