Hello...

Sorry if this topic has been posted before. When I tried to use the search function I got an error saying I was not able to use it.

I have a 2009 Frontier 4x4. Currently the dash blower motor for the A/C and heater is stuck on at its max setting. All of the fuses and relays seem to be good. Looking under the dash the the mechanical rotor that switches vents and such looks to be working as well. Regardless of the setting of the speed control nob the blower is stuck at max.

I recall this happened when I started the truck one day. I recall hearing some kind of a sound from the dash area & then the blower came on at max speed.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem before? It is not something I want to have to take to the dealer if I can easily replace a switch or something like that myself.

Thanks...

The problem is likely the fan control amplifier. Here's an article about fixing it if you're handy with a soldering iron...

I assume the one in the Frontier is similar. Even if you're just replacing the part (as most people do) it's worth reading the article just to understand how it works and what causes the part to fail. Usually that's low airflow. If you have a particularly dirty and clogged cabin air filter, that could be it. A failing blower motor that's not turning fast enough is also a possibility.

Good luck!

Heath
