Hey all,

I am actually posting for a friend. She just bought a 2009 S Convertible with the Nav system and she loves it.

Her problem is that this model does not have the USB port but rather the proprietary Ipod/iPhone integration. That would work for her but but the previous owner bent the pins in the center console so now the cable won't plug in.

I am pretty sure that I can straighten out the pins if I could see the plug. My question is whether or not it is possible/easy to remove just the plug from the center console so that I can get a better view of the pins?

Second question - I notice that the 2010 has the USB input (showing some love for the android folks) as well as bluetooth audio streaming. Is it possible to swap the 2009 system for the 2010 system?

Thanks in advance

Unless it has over 60k miles I would have her take it into the dealership and have them fix the plug in the console. I don't see why they would not do that under warranty unless they claim "abuse".

They may cover it under warranty. If not, a good way to do it is get some cotton pliers and a dental mirror and a flashlight and you should be fine.

As for switching everything over to the 2010, its really not feasable. Its going to cost a lot. The wiring harness is different and the ecu is different. It's never been done, but youa re more than welcome to try

Thanks for the replies. I tried to straighten them up myself but I just didn't have the dexterity to pull it off. My friend took it to the dealership and the straightened the pins under warranty. The Service Manager also indicated that switching in a 2010 is more trouble than it is worth so now my friend is looking at Blue tooth streaming options as a way for her to get her Pandora fix.
