Does the 2009 engine have any of the same problems that the previous generation's engine had? Have they fixed the design flaws?

Crankshaft position sensor faults?Camshaft position sensor faults?O2 sensor debris sucked into engine?Power valve loosens and is sucked into engine?Catalytic converter problems?Anything else?

Also, while test driving a 2009 today I tested out something I heard about from a board. I accelerated to about 40 or 50 then slammed the brakes coming to a complete stop. Then I punched the gas again, but got very little power out of it even though it was floored. It took several seconds to get the acceleration back to normal. The salesman could not explain it, he tried to b.s., but I just cut him off and told him he had to learn about the products he was selling.

I am looking buy a 2009 this week, but not if I am looking at years of pain ahead like the 2002-2006 owners are facing now.

Crankshaft position sensor faults? 42,000+Kms - No issues.

Camshaft position sensor faults? 42,000+Kms - No issues.

O2 sensor debris sucked into engine? 42,000+Kms - No issues but no way to tell. It's the same setup with the cat, same position. Could be a problem. Get a header or go turbo lol. You shouldn't have problems if you take care of the car. Most people don't have any problems with this.Power valve loosens and is sucked into engine? You mean the screws? Power valve? Wha? This was fixed, the butterfly plate screws are sealed now and don't come lose.

Catalytic converter problems? Read above.

Because I don't have this problem with my 6MT.

no issues here... are you trying to get a 2.5 or 3.5 and CVT or stick?

Looking at the 2.5, CVT. The car looks and drives great.

So the screws now come sealed. I read on Wikipedia that they would come loose on the previous generation.

And the accelerator pedal is drive by wire? I did not know that. No more cables... what about the brake system?

Those pesky QR issues were fixed some time ago. As for your loss of power, it's likely a combination of the CVT and drive-by-wire system. Like Scott said though, I've got no problems like that with my 6MT.

lol... yeah a very likely situation to happen in real life. When the hell will you need to make a complete stop going 40-50 and then needing to gun it right after??? I've never had this problem because I can't imagine what scenario this would apply to.

Reading your post, I can already tell you're one of those people that'll find something wrong with anything. You get what you pay for, it's a nissan....
