2009 Airbag Issue

My check airbag light went on. Dealer says it wont deploy and he wants $1,100 to replace the unit.Thinking about driving it into a tree to call his bluff.

Anyone else have this problem?

Are you over 36K miles? If not, bumper-to-bumper warranty applies. If so, I'd call NNA consumer affairs hotline @ 1-800-NISSAN1 and let them know about the issue. If it's a result of a defect and not user negligence, you have a pretty solid case to get them to honor the warranty even if you are over your mileage limit (IMHO, having a mileage warranty cap on an item that does not sustain additional wear and tear based on mileage is rediculous anyway).

Good luck. If you decide to drive into a tree, please make sure that you are alone in the vehicle and recording the event for posterity.
