I don't know where they came up with that crazy part number, but that is not correct for the Murano, at least not the factory original Nissan part. I can't remember the exact part number off the top of my head, but it's only 10 digits, and I believe it actually starts with a B (maybe a B7277-JN20A). Maybe they have a different way of listing parts online or something.

BTW, I was right even though I pulled that part number out of thin air. B7277-JN20A is the correct Nissan number for it.

If I ever meet the engineer who designed the placement of the cabin filter in the '09 Murano he's getting one of these.....

After removing the glove box and playing "where's Waldo" for 10 minutes I finally found the cabin filter cover. Ok good enough, I know where it is from now on. However they don't give you enough room to slide the filter in and out without deforming the filter. It takes a little patience and jiggling to make sure the filter is expanded properly in the slot. All in all about a 20 minute job once you know where everything is, but really poor design for something you need to get to every 15,000 miles.

By the way, I have 13,500 miles on my Murano now and I was surprised at how filthy the cabin filter was. It really traps alot of crud.

Do any of you know a good source for the cabin air filter (2009)? Dealer wants $48+tax.

Try looking at the NICO sponsors at the right of the page....the dealer wants that much because they'll install it too...which you can easily do yourself...

My dealer charges $89 to do it - I bought my filters onlike for $10 and did it myself in 15 min...

The last one I bought at Autozone this past spring (I forget which brand - either STP or Fram) was just under $20. Takes about 5 minutes to change, after you've done it the first time. 10-15 minutes tops the first time you do it. Should be several threads here detailing the procedure to change the in-cabin filter.

Is that for an '09 or earlier model? I specifically asked about '09 because several websites (including Autozone) don't show one for '09 models. If I'm missing it, please send the web link. Does anyone know for sure if the filter is the same for '07 and '09 or if it changed?

Oh, sorry. Didn't notice you were asking about an 09 filter. Mine is an 04, so I've already replaced the in-cabin filter 4 times. And, if I remember correctly, I had to get the first couple filters from the dealer. If the 09 filter is different from the earlier gen Mo's (as it apparently is), you also might have to buy them from the dealer for a while.

OK - I've searched and found much info. BUT - it looks like the info is for pre-'09 cabin filter replacement. Anyone have an idea how to replace it in an '09? Dropping the glovebox by pulling pins out - doesn't seem to be an option in an '09 (pins - what pins??).

Inside the glovebox - all I see are some torx screws. Should I take them out?

Sorry if this has been asked before - any help would be much appreciated.

TIA - John

Here is a link for the 2009+ Murano air filters. It's a little frustrating the first time but it's still fairly simple. The 2nd time around wont take very long.

To expand a little on the "frustrating" part. I had to use pliers to grab the filter and more less pull and tear out the filter. It didn't really tear but it deformed it pretty bad. Putting the new one in meant that I had to compress it and shove it into the slot. The slot isn't as long as the filter but I was able to compress it enough and squeeze it in and let it expand once in the slot and that was all there was to it.

Thanks - will definitely give it a try this weekend. Bought the filter from O'Reilley's, so now....will do the install on Sat or Sun. Again - thanks for the info.

That's what I hate about the Murano cabin filter. You have to deform it so much to get it in that you can't be sure it's expanded correctly.

My wife's Versa is completely different. The cabin filter slides in easily and there is no doubt about correct installation. Also, the plastic cover for the Versa filter is actually part of the filter as opposed to the Murano in which it's a seperate piece.

In regard to changing the Cabin Air Filter on a 2009, 2010, 2011 Murano:

You do not need to remove the carpet panel as instructed in the TYC instructions. If you look closely at your Murano you will see the opening where the cabin air filter cradle is located is not covered by carpet. You will see the black release tab which you push upward and "gently" that releases the cabin air filter cradle access door. The TYC instructions are correct otherwise.

Edited TYC Instructions:

Can anyone assist re: changing this filter as I do not have the TYC instructions and would really like a picture of its location or a web site video. Thanks Bob

Welcome to NICO! You have a second gen Murano (2009-2014). I've merged your thread with an existing one. You'll find the answer in the previous posts above.

I've owned a 2009 and 2010 Murano - just got a 2014 SL. Went to change the cabin air filter as I have on my previous Muranos. . . nope! No cabin air filter behind the center console. So I looked online and saw some posts that it was behind the glove box with instructions to remove the phillips head screws, blah, blah, blah - nope! Torx screws and no label indicating a filter behind the box per the You Tube video.

Anyone know the location and/or have instructions to replace the cabin air filter on a 2014 SL? I'm assuming that it has one?

Welcome to NICO!

The 2014 is the last model year for the 2nd gen Murano, so the cabin filter will be in the same place as the '09~'13 models. It's entirely possible the filter simply wasn't in the holder.
