I just purchased an 2008 versa sl and wanted to purchase an autostart/ remote start system. Is anyone familiar with a system that works on the 2008 versas

First, welcome to NICO!

To answer your question, yes it is possible to install a remote start system in your V. I don't have one, so I couldn't tell you which system. Vahagn23 has a remote start on his Versa, perhaps he could shed some light on it.

On that note, I urge you to look at your state and local laws regarding the use of remote start devices. In many places, it is illegal to leave an unattended vehicle running if it's parked outdoors. If this is true in your area, it would make it legal only to use indoors, which obviously defeats the purpose of the remote start.

You will need a bypass module, as the Versa uses a transponder (chip in the key). I do not recommend AutoCommand, anything else is decent. My father used to install remote start systems as a side business, and he has had luck with Directed Electronics systems.

I recommend Compustar 9000 series. That is what i have in my ride.

Its top of the line unit and cost me $800 installed.
