First time poster here....I am looking to repair the scratches on the steering wheel. The silicone/rubber areas just under the controls have been scratched and almost seem to rub off. Does anyone happen to know of a way to repair this at all? The car is in great shape with the exception of these annoying scratches. Any help is appreciated.

If you are talking about this then you will need to either replace it or remove and repaint:

To get it off you need to remove the airbag. I'm considering the same thing with mine.

I have an 08 G35x and the rubber/silicone(?) is scratched on part of the steering wheel. I also noticed a similar scratch on the door armrest well. I'm sure it doesn't help when i toss the keyfob or my cell phone into the that armrest well. So does anyone know of a fix for these areas? I called the service dept of my local dealership but they only suggested going to an autobody shop.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that piece comes off. Did you wind up replacing it?
