2008EX35 journey resale value

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a 2008 EX35 Journey AWD with 49k miles in good/great exterior interior condition. Currently, my loan balance is 12k . I went online and found out that the dealers trade in value is 18k. Is this close to being accurate? That means I have $6000 gained back?

When I bought the car in 2008, nobody wants to buy the EX35 . So the dealer gave $3-5k incentive off MSRP with 0% APR. :dblthumb:

I don't see the math here. How is your loan balance related to the trade-in value? I paid off my loan in the first year, and the trade-in value then was around 30k. Am I missing something?

You can look at EXs at Carmax.com to get a sense for what they are selling them for. Subtract 2 or 3 thousand from the sales price to estimate what they paid for the trade-in. My eyeballing around suggests that 18k for a dealer trade-in for an 08 AWD Journey w 50k is in the ballpark.
