Readers of the Versa forum....I have a 2008 Versa S Sedan and I get shocked quite hard when I get out of the car. Do I need to wear a grounding strap while driving or what??? Does anyone else have this trouble?? If so what did you do about it?? Pertinent information on this will be appreciated!!!RTMPittsburgh

Get some dryer sheets and rub it all over the fabric.

Another S Sedan owner here.

No shocking problem (static electricity?) on my V.

This has been a problem with a LOT of versa's. I get shocked 90% of the time. It's normal.

Never been shocked from my Versa, but in the past five minutes that I've spent strenuously researching this phenomenon online, I've discovered that you can ground yourself before stepping out of the car by touching anything metal that is connected to the frame. I can't test this for you to see if it actually works, but if it does, it sounds like an easy fix. Open the door, reach up to the roof, then step out.

Of course if you just weld your door closed and get out Dukes of Hazard style then you'll never forget.

This problem is not limited to Versas. I've been shocked by almost every car my family has ever owned along with friend's vehicles (Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, etc.). It's a dry weather/static thing and is more common in the winter than in the summer.

I get shocked nearly every time here in California. My Jeep would get me pretty good every time I'd get out, too.

the tires build up static while rolling down the road. Honda had a bad problem with this a few years ago. I work for Michelin and a lot of our tires now have a thin strip of conductive rubber extruded into the tread of the tire that bleeds off the static.

I always figured it was people getting out of their cars and dragging their butts across the seats, thereby creating a charge. You know, during the left cheek twist?

My Versa has Continentals on it...they are the stock tires. I am glad that I am not the only one who seems to have problems with being shocked upon exiting the car. I noticed tractor trailers have static discharge straps dragging on the road. Nissan ought to consider adding this feature to its 'Power Package' what do you readers think???

I'm sorry but that is one thing I would not want to have hanging from my car. I think it just looks weird.Considering the fact that I have never been shocked I would never put that on the back of my car.

I get little shocks all the time and I wouldn't have them either!
