2008 Versa HB LH Outside Mirror Install

I have a 2008 Nissan Versa HB with power, non-heated side-view mirrors. A few months ago my driver's side mirror was hit. It broke the glass and creased the plastic housing. I bought a new mirror assembly (glass, housing, motor, wire harness) and am wanting to install it. I haven't dove into the project yet hoping to get a little insight here. How do I remove the old mirror housing? It seems the plastic cover underneath the mirror should just pop off but I don't want to damage it or the paint. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Joe
