Hello All!
Girlfriend's 2008 Rogue wont start. 95k miles
Engine had grinding sound for about 3 weeks. went away. Turned car off. Would not start thereafter, but all the indicator lights on the panel functioned (just like normal)
Opened hood to find copper wire thrown all over place (embedded in the insulation).
Replaced alternator.
Now nothing.
No accessories. No headlights. No indicator lights except intellikey and the "brights" indicator led.
Won't crank. door locks will not function.
Battery tested 12.54v and sufficient amps.
All fuses look intact.
All connections double checked.
All grounds tight.
Batt. cables secure.
Tried the steering wheel lock cure. To no avail.
Did ECM reset procedure (why not)..no SES lamp...no change
The complete lack of power to anything strikes me as some security lock or something....
I am at a loss.
Any suggestions
Thanks in advance

Thanks darylzero Good to be here.
Yeah it was the damndest thing pieces of copper wire seemed to have come from alternator...only place I could think off...it seemed to have hit the belt and the belt sprayed the pieces all over the place...did not see any hanging out alternator though...never seen anything like this...some actually stuck in the insulation on the hood....car had been grinding in the vicinity of the alternator for a while...
No obvious other sources...starter is on other side of motor..
Thanks

Missing some pertinent info:
Is the car regularly maintained?
When was it last serviced?
What did you do to resolve the engine grinding noise?
You double checked the connections. Did you clean them as well?
Were the fuses and relays checked?

Not regularly maintained outside of fluid changes.
No tune ups. Only service new tires.
Nothing was done to resolve the engine grinding noise. No money...it was a strange rattle then the day before death sounded grinding.
Did not clean all the connections.
Checked fuses not relays. Need to buy a multimeter with next paycheck...been pretty tight recently
I just moved here and assumed control over vehicle maintenance / repairs
