Hello Folks, Just registered on NICO since we now own a new Sentra 2.0S.We compared it to the usual suspects but the interior room/comfort won us over.Enjoying the car, but the mileage is less than expected. Mid 20s on highway (calculated at fill-ups not w/trip computer. This seems to be mentioned by a few of you here.On the first 10 degree morning I noticed the tire preasure warning light come on and its been on ever since. Obviously a malfunction since pressure is correct. Anyone else experiencing this?

Look forward to following the posts and adding some of my own experiences.

Welcome to NICO!

Get that tire pressure warning taken care of, it sounds annoying.

Wait awhile and see about the mileage, it will probably creep up with time.

Both of the above. You have to keep the pressure to at least 80% of what the doorjamb says otherwise the light will go on.

Once your car hits 3,000 miles, your mileage should go up a lot higher.

Lucky to have a Nissan tech as a regular contributor here.I check tire pressure regularly and it's right where its supposed to be. I did some more searching and it sounds like a bad batch of sensors may have made it through. There was mention of a service bulletin for the problem but not sure if the Sentra is specifically mentioned. Looks like a stop at the dealer. While I'm thinking of it..........do you know any detail on adding XM to the '08 Sentra? I've received different answers on compatibility. Have a 2.0S CVT w/convenience pkg and base stereo. This option level was pre-wired for XM in '07. Was the pre-wiring deleted for '08?

yeah bring it back to the dealer, a bunch of guys on another forum were having that same issue. they should be able to fix it pretty easily.

Re: TPMS indicator light on '07 2.0S model. Similar problem, but slightly different circumstances. Recently experienced an unrepairable front passenger side flat tire, and with new tire (same type as others) mounted and balanced and properly inflated, TPMS sensor light remains on. At least I know the source of the indicator, but more than 500 miles now and still waiting for it to reset. Yes, kind of frustrating.

Sometimes, if the code is a hard code, it will take erasing to make the light go off. Meaning, if you drive TOO LONG with the light on, it sets as a hard code and can't be cleared by driving.

Well, temp above freezing the last few days and the indicator light has gone out. Now all I have to do is relocate to Florida, avoiding any cold fronts enroute, and problem eliminated. If this is a temp related defect local dealer may be receiving other complaints. Next time I'm in there I'll ask them about it.

I have discoved over my 15500 miles in my 07 Spec that on cold days you check the tires cold then go and drive and get them warmed up the TPMS light will come in.. so i pulled over and checked them all 4 were at 40psi. so i got out my owners manual and it said drop them to the recommended in the door jam (35psi) and i did and the light was fine, no more problems. so when its cold set the tires a little low so the expansion of the air inside the tire due to the heatup of driving does not set the light off at about 40psi (at least on the Specs). In the warm summer time temps above 60 or so i would not worry so much about keeping them low fill them to regular pressure. and when it gets hot for all you desert type drivers sitting in the hot sun not moving will be the best time to set tire pressure because of the wind moving over them at speed will cool them down from sitting 100F to like 80 or so.

Did you ever find out the cause of this? Just started with mine yesterday with 699 miles on the car. It was cold outside but 50 degrees in my garage when I started it. Light came on and stayed on. Checked pressure and all OK. I hate the time and inconvenience of taking it to the dealer if it is just a malfunction that can wait until the next service required. Thanks.

Nope, no additional information.Tire pressure has always been correct, warning light came on and stayed on for a week or so, then went out. Since then, outside air temp has ranged from 5 to 50. Never came back on.

I'm new to the forum and wanted to post what resolved my TPMS problem.

My TPMS light came on at 300mi on my 08 Sentra 2.0S. After following the manual and using the reccomended 33 psi I decided to try something different.

1. With cold tires I adjusted to 34 psi and let the car sit overnight.

2. Checked cold tires again in the morning- all read 32psi re-adjusted to 34psi

3. Drove car 5miles and light went out and have had no further problems.

It seems to me that you need to do more than one cold tire adjustments to get the pressure accurate. As stated above there was a 2psi difference overnight. I'm going to do a cold check tommorow morning and see where they are at.

This worked for me hopefully it will helpl someone else.....

I work in the parts department here and we have had to replace several sensors so far this year and last year. Sounds like a common problem to me.

No further problems here. The temp has dipped down a few times but I don't think it's been as sustained or as low as it was when the light came on. We'll see what happens this December. Now for a question for your Nissan parts expertise...would you care to weigh in on adding OEM satellite to the non Rockford-Fosgate '08 Sentra stereo? There's a thread down a few lines on Sentra mid-level stereo that details the questions.

Have I mentioned bringing that topic up in the Nissan Online Mechanic forum?

Just another thought, nobody in the Moderator forum seemed to have much of a clue.

I may do that. Thanks for checking with the moderators. Saw a Delphi XPRESSRC the other day and might consider that option as well.
