I've been under this van for 5 hours now and have all the required bolts removed to free the rack.

For some reason, the steering linkage won't allow enough play to remove from the top gear on the rack and pinion.

I've tried all sorts of ways to lower the rack more but just don't have enough play.

What am I missing? Do I seriously have to take apart the steering column?
