2008 Qashqai Acenta 2wd Aux input

Hi - i am stumped so would be really happy for some help.

I recently bought a 2008 Nissan Qashqai Acenta 2wd.

I love my music so wanted to connect my phone to the audio system via the aux. I located the Aux input (which has now come loose but still seems connected) under the arm rest, and connected my phone with a standard jack.

Problem is, there is no Aux setting on the audio system. There is a CD, FM and AM button but i cannot find anything to select Aux. So when I have music playing on my device connected to Aux, i cant get actual audio.

I do suspect that the Aux input might be generic and not original? however, there is an On / Off switch next to the Aux input which is genuine. It doesnt seem to do anything when turned on or off though.

Any help would be appreciated! thanks, Craig
