2008 with rough idle and throwing P0300 code. It all started when one of my kids drove the car while it was overheated and it quit running. After it cooled it restarted fine. I had the overheating problem fixed with new hoses, thermo, had timing chain redone, new plugs and coil boots, all fluids changed, new head gaskets and bolts, and new throttle body. Compression was well in the acceptible range. Now have a rough idle and random misfire. Runs good at rpms above 1500. Bad gas mileage. No vacuum leaks found. STFT on bank one 25% STFT -25% at idle. They both will move toward 0 at higher rpms. Changed upstream o2. Need help.

I'm not sure what you mean by "25% STFT -25% at idle. Is one of those supposed to be LTFT?

If the ECM is adjusting STFT by richening the mixture 25% at idle I would think vacuum leak, but if it is leaning the system out 25% at idle I would think badly leaking injector.

Bank 1 stft is +25 and bank 2 is -25. Both round down to near 0-5% when rpm raised to 2500.

You are limit up on one side and limit down on the other.

Engine codes.com lists the following for a 2008 Pathy p0300:

Faulty spark plug (s)
Faulty ignition coil (s)
Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
Intake air leak
Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinders compression
Incorrect fuel pressure

You could have more than one problem, but the fuel trims suggest that you make sure your injectors work properly - maybe some dirt got in the fuel line / injector rails while it was apart. Check fuel pressure as well.

Make sure the injector wiring is good.

You could have more than one problem, but fuel seems to be the place to start with those fuel trims - they are way out of whack.

You are not getting any codes related to valves, so it seems the timing chain job was done properly.

Sorry I can't help out more than that!
