Introduced in the 2007 model year, Versa has been one of Nissan’s hottest-selling models since it hit showrooms last July. For 2008, the Versa Hatchback and Sedan models continue to offer surprising roominess and amenities, including available Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, XM® Satellite Radio and a Rockford Fosgate-powered subwoofer.

Versa comes with a standard 122-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a choice of three transmissions, including Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that provides smooth shifting and enhanced fuel efficiency. Estimated fuel economy is 27 mpg City/33 mpg Highway with the CVT transmission, 26 mpg City/31 mpg Highway with the 6-speed manual transmission, and 24 mpg City/32 mpg highway with the 4-speed automatic transmission.

Enhancements to the 2008 Versa Hatchback and Sedan include:- Sport Package now available for Versa Sedan 1.8 SL model- Cruise control now available for Versa Hatchback and Sedan 1.8 S models- Versa Sedan 1.8 SL with 6MT discontinued

Cruise available on 1.8S, eh? Sounds like Nissan is listening to some of their consumers, that seemed to be the biggest gripe when people were comparing the two trims.

I wonder if they will be changing the color availability...

No surprise there with the 6MT being discontinued.

Hopefully, they'll bring in that golden green color that's available elsewhere.

Bastards... I wanted cruise on my S.... but I didn't want to pay $2000 more for an SL.

To be honest, the cruise was a make-or-break deal for me... I had to have it, and it's the only reason I bought the SL.

ugh, if I coulda only waited a week. So, are the 08 with US dealers now? Although, I don't think the 08 will have the recent $500 rebate, so that makes me feel a little better.

Makes you wonder why they would discontinue the 6MT. Hmmm..i have one and i love it...except for a couple things. Now, i'm no mechanic by any means, but i've driven sticks before, and the gears on the V seem rough. I dunno, i wish i could buy a sport shifter for it or something to make it a little smoother. ALSO in between 1 and 2nd gear if i leave it between gears it will make a horrible grinding noise but i have my Clutch pushed ALL the way down, maybe its b/c its new, i dunno. Anyone know if there is even a short shifter, or sport shifter out that would fit the V? let me know..thanks guys

These are city cars. An overwhelming majority of buyers opt for the auto/CVT if their budget permits. If someone can afford an SL sedan, chances are they don't want 6MT.

According to my dealer, <20% select the 6MT.

There are also a number of people who like driving sticks that will buy an auto anyway simply because it's what's available. Unfortunately, manufacturers intepret THOSE people as simply wanting automatics.

Different dealers say different things. In Ottawa my dealer told me that that the MT was actually difficult to find now... Unless there is a true difference in the driving style between East and West!! Maybe the stick is less popular where the land hilly like in BC, who knows?!

I actually went in wanting to see a manual SL, because I use cruise much of the time and liked the other SL amenities, but had only ever driven sticks over about 750,000 miles. But I was sold on the better mileage rating and smoothness of the CVT. (And after 29,000 miles I still I love it!)

I guess it's like minivans. We owned the only stick shift Dodge Caravan I've ever seen, and I guess the "typical" owner didn't buy them, so now it's not even an option. Must be the same with the V...

Strange because one of those updates says this: The 2008 Versa Hatchback is offered in four models: Versa Hatchback 1.8 S 6-speed manual transmission at an MSRP of $12,650; Versa Hatchback 1.8 S 4-speed automatic transmission at $13,450; Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL 6-speed manual transmission at $14,650; and Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL with Xtronic CVT™ at $15,650.

Could it be possible that the 6 spds will be still produced?

I hope so!

Some people (*coughcough*) were told that the V couldn't be ordered with all the bells and whistles and 6MT. My dealer wouldn't even try.

(which, I guess, in the long run is good because I would've ordered it in the wrong color and I would've had a Blue Onyx Versa when I really wanted a Sapphire Blue Versa.)

Yes... if you go back and read what I said (TWICE), you'll note that it is ONLY the 6-speed version of the SL *SEDAN* that is discontinued.

You can still get a 6MT on an SL Hatch, or on either body with an S package.

Nissan's website has been updated to reflect the 2008 model:http://www.nissanusa.com/versa/index.html

e-Brochure:http://www.nissanusa.com/apps/...Versa

It's really a carryover model, with no changes to color or even the wheel covers.

For those wondering, they want $200 for cruise control with the 'S' and is packaged with the $110 splash guards.

WtF?!?

They took away Sirius radio and dropped the price of the XM to $150?!?

glad I got my 2007 when I traded... sheesh.

and (of course) the iPod connector and the spoiler are now available, but that is to be figured.

AND YOU CAN GET ABS W/O THE SPORT PACKAGE (on the supped up models)

...

oh wait I don't like ABS anyways ;oD but I can understand the frustration with early Versas from people who do like ABS.

They also raised the base price by $100.

FINALLY... you can get Convenience and ABS without the sunroof/audio/sport package all being added on at the same time.
